Oh, one student gave me a question the other day. It was "Epic は 日本語で 何と いいますか?" The answer is "雄大(ゆうだい)な,英雄的(えいゆうてき)な"Thanks for the question!

Really, you are an awesome teacher and I feel that I am learning a lot. Thank you for teaching our class. It's super awesome and I really enjoy it. I'm sorry that I haven't sent you a post as quickly as I wanted to, but at least I'm sending one now, yeah? I really hope that you are enjoying your time here in America and being able to teach. n_n

Special thank you for Cheree. I got very happy to hear you are enjoying my class. It is great that you KNOW that you are learning.
I am also a language learner. I am learning a lot of useful English from you all(Nothing is useless)!

I love you and keep enjoying learning Japanese together!

Yamazaki Sensei,

I've noticed that I'm pretty good with grammar and translation - if I know the words! I'm always asking Danika or Cheree or somebody with good vocabulary how to say a certain word, or looking in my dictionary!

I think it would be a good idea to give us weekly vocabulary tests. You could give us a list of 10 or 20 words every week and test us at the end. It would help expand our vocabulary a lot, and you could even have a cumulitive vocabulary test at the end of the trimester. 20 words a week for 10 weeks, that's 200 words we'd know by the end of third trimester!

I know we learn vocabulary now, but the focus is on grammar, because we never are directly tested on vocabulary, but at the end of the trimester we are directly tested on grammar and kanji.

I know a lot of my fellow students will hate me for suggesting to have more work and tests, but I'm pretty serious about learning Japanese, because it will be useful in my career of software engineering - so I want to get good at Japanese!

Thanks for your help, you are a very good teacher!

I am so glad to know you are very serious about learning Japanese and I am very excited to know that you want to learn more vocabulary words(たんご).

As an English language learner, I think it would definitely help you to learn as many vocabulary as possible in order to be proficient in a second language.

So, I would like to make it(your suggestion) work. But I would like to know what other students would think about it,too.

I could make the vocabulary test as a weekly assessment as you said. OR, we could have the vocabulary test as optional(towards extra credits?)

We could talk about it tomorrow in the class.

One more important thing, what kind of vocabulary do you want to know?
Anything particular?

Oh, I have a suggestion. How about one or two of you work with me every week to create the vocab test?(you guys will take a turn to create the test everyweek) In that way, we can learn vocabulary that you are interested in or want to know.

Let me know what you think.

Nick, thank you for your suggestion.(Don't worry, nobody would hate you!)

Hi Yamasaki Sensei!!

Thank you for teaching me Japanese! I really like your class and I think your a great person too. Also, thank you for spending so much time help me understand Japanese more.

So what else do you do for fun? It's interesting to learn about traditional and modern Japanese culture.

I was wondering if you are going back to Japan after this year because if you left it would be sad.

Anyways, we can talk more in class!

Eric, thank you so much for such a nice comment.I enjoy working with you a lot and it is always you guys who motivate me to want to teach better.I am the one who should say thank you.

I jog along the waterfront in Portland, cook(trying to cook more Japanese food), watch movies, read books(I am reading "To kill a mocking bard"in English.I saw the movie in Japan, but reading the book in English is very challenging for me.),listen to Japanese pops etc.
I have been thinking about buying the acoustic guitar recently because I left my guitar in Japan and I love to sing songs along the guitar for my free time.

I would like to know what you do for fun, too!!

Perhaps,I am going back to Japan once to complete my masters degree in a university in Japan.
But, I have been thinking that it would be great to keep working with you or to come back here because it has been very fascinating for me to work with you.

ありがとう。

I wish that I could learn Japanese at Southridge, too. I am so happy to see that everyone appreciates Yamzaki Sensei because she is one of the nicest people I know and she is also an amazing teacher(She taught me how to say I like something sort-of, alot or not at all, in about 5 minutes. Have fun! I am going to go back to teaching Spanish at Cleveland now.

こんいちは!
Hi 山崎先生. I've been listening to the audio blog, www.japanesepod101.com and I've noticed that in the more advanced lessons, around 日本語3, use a lot of forms of words that I don't know. I'm afraid I won't know enough about 文法 to be able to manipulate the vocabulary I do know. It's probably just my learning style, which is really weird compared to how a lot of people learn. So I'm not suggesting you change how you teach just to suit my needs - that would be really selfish of me!

But do you know of any good Japanese grammar books or websites? The more I know about grammar, and how to change words to different forms to change their meanings, the greater number of ideas I can communicate with less vocabulary. And then when I learn a new word, I actually will know a lot of different ways to use it, so I actually learn a lot of new words at once!

ありがとうございます!

Hi, it's Jeremy from 3rd period.

I like this class a lot, and I think it's a very fun class.

The way we have to write down the new things we learn and doing the activities is a good way for me to learn because it's good practice.

Thank you Yamazaki Sensei!
